IT was eyes down last week as BBC Sewing Bee expert Jenniffer Taylor dropped into the Old Needle Works in Britten Street to hold a special ‘Sew Saturday’ workshop.
Participants used their measurements to create a top or dress without a pattern, all under Jennifer’s watchful eye.
“The Old Needle Works, home of the Inkberrow Design Centre, is also my local independent training Centre for arts and crafts.
“It’s a wonderful hive and lots of creative activity took place throughout the day. I truly believe that ‘creativity is contagious’ and therefore I’m keen to play my part and share my contribution with others. So, it really is a privilege to be an ambassador for such a wonderful event.”
During the day, the centre also be ran an over locker workshop, advice on working with jersey fabrics, displays of couture clothing, as well as a fabric sale run by Fabricology.
Brenda Killigrew, director of Inkberrow Design Centre said: “Sew Saturday was a day when all sewing enthusiasts had an opportunity to share their ideas with Jenni Taylor of the Great British Sewing Bee.
“It’s a fantastic initiative and the activities we had on during the day provided an insight into the creative workshops, courses and suppliers we are able to provide to those interested in either looking at sewing or textiles for the first time, right through to more advanced sewers.”
