Redditch lollipop lady thanked for 46 years of service

A LOLLIPOP lady who has served the Winyates and Matchborough community for 46 years has been thanked for her dedication and commitment.

Ruby Urka, who is the crossing attendant outside Ipsley Middle School, has been awarded a certificate as recognition of her hard work and as a token of appreciation from the local officers.

Ruby, who can be seen on the crossing on a daily basis, has assisted grandparents, parents and children alike in crossing the road and there are many parents of current students who can remember being crossed over by Ruby when they were at school.

The long-serving lollipop lady recently made the acquaintance of HRH Princess Anne during the official opening of the RSA Academy.
