PUPILS at Ridgeway Academy had an eye-opening visit from a consultant based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) last week.
Consultant Surgeon Mr Joe Abbott dropped into the school last Thursday (November 5) and taught the year eight students how to prevent injuries to the eye.
In an event described as ‘epic’ by the youngsters, Mr Abbott encouraged the children to cover an image of a giant eye in loose change to help fund-raise for the ‘Eye Believe’ appeal.
The appeal, which is a BCH scheme, aims to give the children who visit the hospital’s Eye Department the warmest of welcomes all year round.
