A WOMAN who broke both her legs, her knee and suffered a suspected chest injury was trapped in her car with an 18-month-old toddler for 45 minutes yesterday (Monday) evening after colliding with another vehicle in Wixford.
The woman, who is in her 30s, had to be freed with the help of the fire service who cut off the roof of the vehicle.
Following calls to the emergency services at around 5.05pm, three ambulance crews, two rapid response vehicles and a paramedic area support officer attended the scene on Wixford Road.
The young boy appeared to have only suffered a cut lip.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The woman was immobilised onto a spinal board and given pain relief before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
“The child appeared to have nothing more than a cut lip, but because of the high level of damage done to both cars in the collision, he was taken to the Alexandra Hospital as a precaution.”
The driver of the other car – a woman in her twenties – managed to get out of her vehicle and was taken to the Alex as a precaution with a minor head wound.
