Santa Claus comes to Redditch town

FAMILIES from across the borough came out in force on Saturday (November 21) to escort Santa Claus safely to his grotto in the Kingfisher Centre.

The parade, which left the Town Hall at 11am, was jam-packed with festive fun and participants enjoyed the opening of the Christmas Market, on Market Place by St Stephens Church.

Redditch residents have no need to travel to Birmingham’s German Market – they can snap up a festive treat on their doorstep with everything from hot dogs to chestnuts and hot mulled cider on offer.

The market is open every day and will run until Christmas Eve whilst youngsters can pay a visit to Father Christmas and tell him exactly what they want for Christmas, every day Monday to Sunday until Christmas Eve in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

Tomorrow (Saturday) will see the return of the centre’s children’s train ride, which is free to ride and will run until Christmas Eve.

Ken Williams, the Kingfisher Shopping Centre’s general manager, said: “The festive season here at Kingfisher Shopping Centre and it is always a very exciting time and this year is no exception.

“We have a jam-packed schedule of events planned this year and we’re pulling out all the stops.”
