Early Help volunteers praised for hard work

KIND-HEARTED volunteers for the council’s Early Help service were rewarded for their help and support on Tuesday (December 15) in a special presentation at the Town Hall.

The volunteers were presented with a certificate and a gift by the Mayor of Redditch and Councillor Yvonne Smith in front of members of the Early Help Team.

Alison Wakeman, family champion and volunteer co-ordinator, said: “We’re doing the award ceremony to say thank you to the volunteers for all their hard work and recognise that they are valued members of our team.

“It is good to be able to reward local people who have been kind enough to give up their time and help our service for free, whilst they also gain experience and build confidence along the way.”

There are a number of volunteers currently within the Early Help service including Early Start Champions, who support ante-natal clinics, baby massage and play groups.

Participants also volunteer as Support Workers, Breastfeeding and Peer Support Family Champions, Counsellors, Fun Group volunteers, VIP (Very Involved Parents) Administration, Life Coaching Peer Support Workers and Parenting volunteers (supporting parents after completing a parenting course).
