A REDDITCH jazzman is topping the charts after bringing down the house at The 2015 British Jazz Awards.
Mark Nightingale not only scooped top place in the event’s trombone section but collected more votes than any musicians or band in any of the other categories.
A total of 41,154 votes were cast online, by post and by email by 4,687 voters and Mark’s poll of 1,043 beat came top in all the other 15 categories.
A recording and touring artist since the 1980s, Mark has worked with many of the top big bands on the British jazz scene, including those led by Michael Garrick, Stan Tracey, and Kenny Wheeler.
He also leads his own quintet, and regularly has his compositions performed by big bands across Europe.
