Parish council calls for Studley to kept blooming beautiful for Britain in Bloom

PARISH councillors are calling on the people of Studley to do their bit to keep the village blooming beautiful in support of Studley in Bloom.

As with many villages and towns, Studley has long been plagued by posters and leaflets advertising everything from upcoming events to missing pets which are stuck to lampposts, benches and railings.

And such ‘fly-posting’ can easily endanger the chances of the Bloom team bringing home gold once again.

They say that when posters are stuck to street furniture the paint usually peels away with the tape or glue when the posters are taken down, leaving the village looked uncared for.

And it’s more important than ever to keep Studley clean and tidy in 2016 as the village prepares to compete in Britain in Bloom in August.

In a meeting on Tuesday (December 15) parish councillors, led by Councillor Jim Bacon, called for measures to be taken to prevent fly-posting in the run up to the competition.

Coun Paul Beaman, chairman of the parish council, said: “We are kindly asking all local organisations not to fly-post as it is a special year for Studley in Bloom and we want to keep the village as clean and tidy as we possibly can in time for judging.”
