A BUILDING society in Redditch had raised £4,000 for a bereavement charity through their coffee and cake day.

The West Brom branch, on Evesham Walk, held the Care For a Cake event on December 15 in aid of the Edward’s Trust which offers support to people who have lost a loved one.

Jim King, communication manager, said: “We are thrilled with how the event was received and delighted we raised a significant sum of money at this time of year.

“A huge thanks goes to all our customers for supporting this event. There was a real festive feel in all our branches and all the money raised has gone to a very worthwhile cause.”

Stephanie Bradbury, head of fundraising at Edward’s Trust, said: “We can’t thank staff and customers at the West Brom enough for their support in this very festive event – the donation will make a huge difference to a number of people.

“Christmas is often a very challenging and difficult time for anyone who has suffered a bereavement and it is a vital time of year for us to offer the very best support and care possible for people in that situation.”
