POLICE in Redditch are appealing for witnesses or information after an arson attack at a property in Flyford Close, Lodge Park.

The incident happened at approximately 2.20am on Christmas Day morning (Friday, December 25), when a fire was intentionally started inside a storage area at the front of the house, where the gas and electric meters were located.

On discovery of the blaze the fire brigade quickly attended and made the scene safe. No-one was injured in the incident.

PC Martyn Dudley of Redditch police said “This appears to be an apparent unprovoked incident, which has left the resident of the house understandably shaken and confused.

“We are asking residents in the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

“We will be conducting additional patrols in the area, and would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have any information to assist with the investigation.”

If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information, please call police on 101, quoting incident 83S of 25 December 2015.

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or via their website.
