Our ‘perfect gift’ for Christmas

THE birth of a miracle baby on Christmas Day proved to be the best possible present for one Redditch couple.

Little Harry, weighing in at 8lbs 14ozs, was born just before 4am on Christmas morning to Sarah Moulder, who had previously been told she couldn’t have any more children, and her partner Carl Dodd.

Both mum and proud dad were absolutely thrilled with the new arrival who is thriving back at their Brockhill home.

Harry’s conception was a total surprise to Sarah and Carl as after the birth of her first two sons, Noah, aged four, who suffers from a heart condition and Luke, two, Sarah had been told she would be unable to have anymore children due to a medical problem with her ovaries.

“When we heard the news we thought we could put our focus on Noah,” said Sarah.

“He has a problem with his heart and has had a lot of operations at the Children’s Hospital, and will have another later this month.”

However when the Burrington Close mum suffered a kidney complaint last July and went for a scan at the Alexandra Hospital, the results were a surprise.

“The nurse said to me ‘you could have told us you were pregnant’ and I said to her that’s impossible, I can’t have any more children, and she said ‘what’s that on the scan then?’” said Sarah, aged 27.

“We were so surprised, but thrilled too, and we’re just delighted with Harry.”

Little Harry was born at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester after the maternity unit at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch shut down last November.

Neither of the couple drives and with the two eldest boys being looked after by family members the couple managed to get home with the help of Sarah’s sister after Carl discovered a taxi would cost £60.

“We didn’t realise how much we relied on the Alex, but we all got home safely,” said Sarah.
