TWO INSPIRATIONAL women are encouraging residents across the borough to embrace the New Year by dropping those pesky pounds still lingering from an indulgent Christmas.
Becky Barber from Alcester and Stacey Bartlett from Redditch are just two of Slimming World’s newest local consultants and will be running weekly classes to help encourage both men and women alike achieve their goal weights.
31-year-old Becky felt amazing after ditching three stone in just four months.
She said: “I was sluggish, had lost my confidence and I didn’t feel like going out much but now I’ve got my confidence back and enjoy a new active lifestyle.
“Best of all I can now slip easily into my size eight skinny jeans and can enjoy going clothes shopping with my Mum for the first time ever.”
Stacey, 30, has a similar story after losing more than seven stone and slimming down from a size 22 to a svelte 10 to 12 with the help of Slimming World after feeling lifeless, miserable and suffering from low self esteem.
“I was so nervous about walking through the doors that first time – I was worried I’d be the biggest person in the room. .
“But as I walked in the consultant gave me a really warm welcome and made all my fears melt away. She helped me to understand how I could eat my favourite meals just by making a few changes to how I cooked them.”
Building on their personal success, the women are now helping others get their confidence back and running their own groups in Alcester and Redditch.
Becky heads up a group at Alcester’s Jubilee Centre on St Faiths Road at at 9.30am and 7.00pm on Thursdays while Stacey hosts her group at the Vaynor School on Tuesdays at 7pm. Kerry, who is in her tenth year as a consultant, runs groups at the Foxlydiate Arms on Wednesdays at 9.30am, 3.15pm, 5.15pm and 7.15pm. Visit http://www.slimmingworld.co.uk/ for more information.
