A dream decade gets cut short

A REDDITCH woman who didn’t cut her hair for ten years to fulfil a childhood dream has had it all shaved off for Cancer Research.

When Angela Millington was growing up she’d always looked enviously at her older sister’s long golden locks, so long she could sit on them.

Mum though preferred Angela’s dark hair in a bob, and kept it well trimmed.

“When I was 30 and my hair was extremely short I thought to myself that this was my last chance to grow it long before I started going grey and it started to look witch-like,” said Angela, from Ipsley.

Fast forward ten years and with both she and her partner hitting 40 in 2015 they decided to treat themselves every month to mark the joint milestone, and then with the passing of the year Angela decided to shave off all her hair.

“We’ve had such an amazing year but over the last five years or so we’ve had so much sad news and I thought that, as I was 40 without any major illnesses, touch wood, that I would give something back,” said Angela.

As a result an appointment was made for New Year’s Eve at Toni & Guy on Evesham Walk for the big head shave, and although her partner didn’t join her – he’s already got a smooth head – he was there to record it all for posterity.

“It’s taken ten years to grow, and just minutes to crop,” said Angela.
