Flog It! comes to Redditch

Redditch Editorial 17th Jan, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

THE BBC’s gone mad on Redditch’s needle industry heritage with two hit shows set to feature the town.

On Wednesday the crew from the popular auction show Flog It! were at Forge Mill Needle Museum filming presenter Paul Martin as he learned about the history of the needle industries in the town. The crew then moved on to do more filming at Coughton Court.

“The call came out of the blue, but of course Redditch produced 90 per cent of the world’s needles at one time and became famous because of it,” said museum curator Joanne Gloger.

A date has yet to be set for the screening of the programme but for those who can’t wait to get their hit of Redditch on TV, Great British Railway Journeys (Tuesday 6.30pm BBC2), presented by Michael Portillo will feature the town’s needle making giants Entaco, based at Washford – see our special feature on Page 5.
