A REDDITCH man has pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife in a drunken rage while her daughter was in the home.
The 58-year-old Woodrow resident appeared at Redditch Magistrates Court on Wednesday (January 20) after attacking his partner for the second time at 2.30am on December 19.
The woman’s 15-year-old daughter called relatives for help and the victim’s ex-husband arrived at the same time as the police.
The defendant then tried to resist arrest, later saying he only remembered watching a film, seeing his wife’s ex and being arrested.
He added that he could not remember being aggressive and apologised for his behaviour.
Defence solicitor, Gregory Burke said the couple were committed to the relationship despite the difficulties.
The defendant was given an eight-week suspended sentence for 12 months and was ordered to attend a 20-day rehabilitation course and pay £295 in costs.
