THE idea of forming a residents group to monitor traffic and parking in Studley has been floated by district council Justin Kerridge (Con, Studley N, M’boro Green).
“It seems to me that there are a lot of villagers who would be interested in doing this as everyone has got a concern about it and if there was a body of people, a committee willing to do the work then that could be a positive thing for the village,” he told Tuesday’s parish council meeting.
Coun Maureen Rickhards added that they were receiving a lot of applications for flats and small houses most without parking facilities.
“We need to convince the powers that be that they need parking to be available as we simply do not have room on the roads any more,” she said.
Council chairman Coun Paul Beaman said efforts to get a county traffic officer to address the council had failed but he would make a renewed attempt so that such a traffic committee, if set up, would know the extent of its powers.
