RESIDENTS are invited to this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day tomorrow, Saturday (January 23).
The procession will gather from 10am at Redditch Town Hall, ready to depart at 10.30am for Millward Square in the Kingfisher Centre for a short service.
Astwood Bank First School Choir, Redditch Polish School and Kerala Cultural Association will be among those in attendance.
Following the service, the event continues to the Holocaust Memorial marker on Church Green before free refreshments and a talk in the Council Chamber.
Julia Kinch, granddaughter of last year’s speaker and Holocaust survivor Iby Knill, will be the speaker at this year’s memorial.
Councillor Bill Harnett, leader of the council, said: “Every year as a community we mark Holocaust Memorial Day to remember the atrocities of the past and help ensure that they are never repeated.
“It is important to keep remembering these events and educating the youth of today so that they understand and help build a future where this can never happen again.”
