THE driver of a car had to be cut free from her vehicle following a collision in Alcester High Street earlier today (Monday, January 25).
The victim was attended by paramedics and fire service personnel who removed the roof off her black car so she could be taken to hospital.
The incident closed the main thoroughfare for more than two hours, the Redditch to Stratford bus blocking one end of the road to prevent traffic chaos.
One eyewitness said: “The black car was heading towards St Nicolas Church and a white van was coming down.
They weren’t going very fast, only about 10mph when they collided. The woman in van quickly got out but it looked like the other driver was either trapped or too injured to get out.
“A couple of bystanders quickly took control of the situation and the fire brigade and paramedics were quickly on the scene.”
The incident occurred around 10.30am and police stayed on the scene until the debris was removed more than two hours later.
