A MAN who headbutted and punched a staff member at the Holiday Inn in Redditch was ordered to pay almost £400 after pleading guilty to assault.
Bogdan Kocon, 34, was living at The Bromsgrove Hotel, Kidderminster Road, Bromsgrove, when the incident took place on January 12 but gave his address in court on Tuesday (January 26) as the Blue Inn Hotel, Redditch.
The court heard Kocon, who was a sous chef at the Bromsgrove hotel, missed his last bus home after drinking all day in Redditch Town Centre, consuming ten pints of cider and a full 70cl bottle of vodka in double shots from 10.30am.
Prosecutor Owen Beale said Kocon and a female friend he was with had tried to get a room at the Holiday Inn, Redditch, but when they were asked for a credit card to pay for it, they could not produce one.
The pair waited outside the hotel but became noisy and a staff member went out to talk to them and to ask them to be quiet.
This led to an altercation in which Kocon punched and headbutted the member of staff and the police were called.
The court heard how Kocon’s actions were down to the amount of alcohol he consumed.
He was fined £135, with £135 costs, and was ordered to pay £100 compensation to his victim and a £20 victim surcharge.
