Emily’s locks chopped for the princess charity

AN INSPIRATIONAL little girl has donated ten inches of her hair to a children’s cancer charity because she knows her donation will ‘make the poorly children smile’.

Kind-hearted Emily Perkins, who is only five-years-old, made the brave decision to cut off her waist-length hair in aid of the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children across the UK and Ireland who have lost their own hair due to lifesaving treatment.

Proud mum Emma said the family came across the Little Princess Trust after seeing videos online of other youngsters donating their hair to the cause.

“She turned to me and said mummy I could do that, I have lots of hair,” said Emma. “She told me she would like to give her hair to a poorly boy or girl to make them feel better – she said she wanted to make them smile.”

Brave Emily, who attends Moons Moat First School, faced the scissors at Crucial Hair & Beauty on Wednesday (February 17).

“I think she was a little bit shocked at first,” Emma added. “But she’s got used to it and keeps saying she looks like Snow White after I told her not all princesses have long hair.”

And it was an emotional day for Mum too with Emma struggling to keep her composure as the hair fell to the floor.

“I was almost crying as I was filming her – I am very, very proud,” she said.

So far, Emily has raised around £240 from sponsorship and her Just Giving page but the little girl is hoping to reach £350 which is the amount the charity has to purchase wigs at.
