A CYCLIST has been airlifted to one of the region’s major trauma centres this morning (Wednesday) after falling from her bicycle near Redditch.
Paramedics were called to the incident near Wawensmere Road in Henley-in-Arden, shortly after 10.50am where a woman in her 50s had fallen after skidding on a patch of ice.
An ambulance spokesperson said: “She was already receiving care and attention from fellow cyclists before ambulance staff took over treatment for a head injury and a suspected wrist injury.
“The woman remained stable throughout but did suffer from a slightly reduced level of consciousness.”
After being immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board, the woman was flown to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire by the waiting Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance which had landed in a nearby field.
