A MASSIVE gamble by Redditch businesswoman Ros Sidaway to move her record shop out of the town centre to Headless Cross has paid off – thanks to the magic of music.
Now, 12 months on, retro record specialists Vintage Trax, on Birchfield Road, is preparing to celebrate its first birthday as the popularity of vinyl records continues to grow.
And it’s not just Redditch people who are supporting the shop. Customers are coming from as far afield as Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Alcester, Stratford, and Birmingham to ‘dig through the crates’ of preloved LPs and 7”/12” singles encompassing most music genres.
“It was definitely a risk worth taking, but it was a gamble to come out of the town centre,” said Ros.
“Record shops are ‘destination’ shops – vinyl record buyers are prepared to travel to find what they want. We are on the bus route – and there is free on-road parking.”.
To celebrate the big day, Ros and her sister Teresa are looking forward to welcoming record fans from 10.30am – 5pm tomorrow (Saturday) to join in the birthday celebrations.
