MEMBERS of Bunbury Cricket Club have scored run after run over the last 30 years, raising £17m for more than 100 charities.
As the team celebrates its 30th birthday, Harry Dyke – aka Harry the Fish – is joining forces with Dr David English, former manager of the Bee Gees and Bunburys founder, to sponsor a local young cricket team.
The pair hope to help the sport at grass roots level and Harry dreams one of their sponsored players will be picked to play for England one day.
Under the motto, ‘a Bunbury stands for freedom, fun, for ever being young, never turning from your quest as a Bunbury does his best’, the team have held numerous celebrity cricket matches.
Speaking at the launch of Bunbury’s new website, Harry said being made a club member was the greatest moment of his life.
The 20-year-old fishmonger, who is based at Hillers Farm Shop, said: “I was overjoyed when I was asked by Dr David English CBE to become a member and have been wanting to pay him back ever since.”
