JOHNSONS Volvo Garage is leaving Redditch – with the new owners of the site planning to build retirement homes there instead.
The dealership, on Clive Road, is leaving in September and transferring their 26 staff members to their Solihull site and McCarthy and Stone will take it over to build the apartments.
As of yet a planning application has not been submitted but the developer promised to consult with the local community before making any proposals.
A Johnsons spokesman said: “The Redditch Volvo dealership was one of the first three acquired by the business when it was formed in 1999.
“We have a great team in the Volvo dealership that have built up a reputation for customer loyalty, expertise and passion for the Volvo brand.
The relocation does not affect our other business operations in Redditch as they serve the 30 dealerships throughout the UK.”
