Brewery ale brings in £2k for Trust

A REDDITCH charity has said cheers to Wolf Brewery of Norfolk after it received more than £2,000 from the sale of 45,000 pints of ‘Edith Cavell Ale’.

The Cavell Nurses’ Trust, based in Grosvenor House, Redditch, gives welfare support to nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants experiencing financial or personal hardship.

It was set up in memory of the heroic First World War nurse Edith Cavell, who grew up in Norfolk and who worked as a British nurse during the First World War, saving the lives of over 200 Allied soldiers by helping them escape from German-occupied Belgium. For this act she was executed by a firing squad in 1915 and a Fund for Nurses was set up in her honour.

With 5p from the sale of each of the 45,000 pints and bottles of Edith Cavell Ale sold during 2015, the Trust has received a total of £2,267.
