TRUSTEES of Alcester’s War Memorial Town Hall need your help in appointing a new chairman.
The Henley Street site is managed by a committee which includes the High and Low Bailiffs of Alcester Court Leet, representatives of organisations who use the building and townspeople from whom the Chairman and other officers are appointed.
Members are appointed on an annual basis at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to which all residents are invited.
Usually the committee has already received nominations for its new chairman but this year is very different because so far, no nominations have been submitted.
Consequently, the committee is pleading for anyone who has an interest in maintaining the town’s historic building and has the time and willingness to lead the group, to go along to the AGM next Wednesday (March 16) at the Town Hall at 7:30pm.
The building, originally built in 1618, was purchased by Alcester residents in 1919 as a memorial to the town’s soldiers who died in the First World War.
It is now used as a venue for wedding receptions, celebration parties and as a valued community meeting plac
