MORE than 1,700 fund-raisers descended on Ragley Hall to run, walk and crawl through mud in an award-winning charity obstacle course.
The country estate, near Alcester, hosted its first ever Royal British Legion (RBL) Major Series on Saturday (March 12), where brave challengers tested themselves over a 10km or 5km route featuring 30 obstacles.
Organised by British Military Fitness, more than 40 soldiers were on hand to help and encourage the competitors through mud crawls, cargo nets, a vanishing bridge and a burning building.
Aaron Wise, a reporter on the Standard’s sister paper the Worcester Observer, took part. He said: “It’s the first time I’ve done a mud run and I can safely say I will be taking part again.
“It really pushes you and makes you feel all the more proud when you eventually stumble across the finish line soaking wet and covered in mud.”
Michaela Brice, events manager at the RBL Major Series, said: “It was a fantastic weekend and our participant numbers are growing every year.
“It’s great to see more people getting the confidence to try these events. There’s always a friendly atmosphere and we hope to see more challengers getting involved at our next mud run.”
Charles Byrne, director of fund-raising at the RBL said: “We hope everyone who took part in our major series enjoyed the day and we thank all those who fund-raised for the charity.”
