POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a road rage incident in Clews Road left motorists ‘very badly shaken’ on Easter Sunday (March 27).
The incident happened at around 1.45pm close to the McDonalds and KFC restaurants in Oakenshaw, following an initial altercation by the old Jolly Farmer Public House on Woodrow Drive.
The victim was driving his car out of Woodrow South into Woodrow Drive when a motorcycle came up behind his car and tried to undertake him.
The motorcyclist rode at the same speed and started banging on the side of the car causing distress to the occupants before pulling along the right side of the car and, while still moving, started hitting the side window.
The motorcyclist then followed the car towards the McDonalds restaurant before pulling in front of the vehicle, causing the driver to brake suddenly and creating traffic along Clews Road. The motorcyclist then proceeded to kick and punch the car.
Fearing for the safety of his family, the driver of the car drove away and may have hit the motorcycle which was blocking his escape route.
Police said the occupants of the car were left very badly shaken and scared for their safety.
Officers are now trying to locate the motorcyclist who went into Oakenshaw McDonalds shortly after the incident and anyone who was caught up in the traffic along Clews Road as a result of the incident.
Anyone with any information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 310s of March 27.
