ASPIRING authors at the town’s Birchensale Middle School enjoyed a visit from a Carnegie Children’s Book Award winner recently.
Tanya Landman, winner of last year’s accolade with her critically acclaimed novel Buffalo Soldier, shared tales of her troublesome children and her pot-bellied pig.
Laura Ridgewell, head of English at Birchensale, said: “We were really fortunate to have a visit from such an enthusiastic and engaging author. Her books are read by many of our pupils and I think she has inspired quite a few of them to become authors now too.”
