Appeal for 'visitors' to do spot checks on West Mercia Police custody suites

Redditch Editorial 1st Apr, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A NEW round of recruitment has opened for Custody Visitors in West Mercia, a vital role which helps ensure public confidence in policing.

Independent Custody Visitors (ICVs) make unannounced visits to police custody suites. They check that people who have been detained are being treated fairly and properly, and that the police are following all the correct rules and procedures.

The role represents a chance to meet new people, learn new skills, and see an area of policing that most members of the public never come into contact with.

There’s more information on the role and application paperwork on the PCC’s website: www.westmercia-pcc.gov.uk .

Applications are open until April 8.
