POLICE are warning residents of distraction thefts in Redditch after a pensioner had his bank card stolen and £500 taken out of his account.

The victim, a man in his nineties, was shopping near Icknield Street, with his daughter, at about 3pm and had used his debit card to buy several items. On their way home a woman and two men approached them and asked his daughter to draw out directions to the local shopping centre.

The woman began talking to the victim whilst one of the men spoke to his daughter, and the other positioned himself between the two.

The daughter became suspicious and took her father indoors where he checked his wallet and noticed his card was missing. it was later used to withdraw £500.

Police are keen to speak to a man caught on CCTV who they believe may have information to aid their investigation.

Anyone who may be able to help with their enquirers is urged to call police on the non emergency 101 number or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
