AN INSPIRATIONAL little girl is preparing to donate 11 inches of her hair to a children’s cancer charity and honour the memory of her grandmother who sadly passed away recently.
Kind-hearted Charleigh Jones made the brave decision to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust after the death of her nan, who she was very close to.
Charleigh’s grandmother especially loved the youngster’s hair and refused to let mum, Emma, have it cut short but now thoughtful Charleigh wants to share the gift of her beautiful golden hair with other children who have lost their own.
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children across the UK and Ireland who have lost their own hair due to lifesaving treatment.
The seven-year-old will say goodbye to her luscious locks on Saturday, April 30 at Moons Moat’s The Hair Factory with Maria Collins brandishing the scissors.
The Woodrow First School student has so fair raised £55 but would love to take the total to £350, which would cover the cost of a wig for a child.
Proud mum Emma said: “My mum loved Charleigh’s hair and after Charleigh saw other people donating theirs to the charity on YouTube she decided she would do it in remembrance of her nan.”
Emma added her daughter had said she wanted to donate her locks to help make other boys and girls feel ‘beautiful’ again after losing their own hair.
The team at The Hair Factory and Emma hope to make a day of the haircut and raise further funds for the charity through a cake sale and other activities for children.
