Burst pipe in Studley on Friday still causing delays 96 hours later on Tuesday

A BURST water main on the Redditch Road out of Studley is still awaiting repair more than 96 hours after it broke on Friday.

The road was still closed this morning (Tuesday, April 12) and diversions remained in place as schools traffic and commuters tried to negotiate the key route in and out of the village.

The main burst on Friday, quickly flooding the road out of the village up to the rise by the old Griffin pub.

Police were still diverting traffic through the flood on Saturday before making the decision to close the road, which remained blocked off at the Green Lane turning throughout Sunday and Monday into the Tuesday rush hour.




A spokesperson for Severn Trent yesterday (Monday) said: “We received reports of a burst water pipe on Redditch Road on Friday (April 8).

“We went out straight away to investigate and managed to stop the pipe from leaking and get water supplies back on for all of our customers and repair the damage to the pipe.


“We’d like to apologise to anyone who was without water, we know how difficult this can be especially during the day.”

She added that Severn Trent were working to get the road back to normal as quickly as possible and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
