THE TOWN’S Alexandra Hospital has received a kind-hearted donation of exercise equipment which will help children with cystic fibrosis in the county to fight the condition.
Hula hoops, balls, hockey sticks and gym equipment were all donated to the cystic fibrosis service at both the Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the Alex, which offers children with the lifelong condition somewhere to go in the county for the first time.
The items were donated by staff at Wychavon Leisure, who run centres across the county including, Pershore, Evesham, Droitwich Spa, and Bromsgrove.
Staff from the centre teamed up with a Worcester family who’s daughter, Jess Warner-Andrews, suffers from the condition.
The family donated £500 to the service to get further equipment to benefit patients.
Jo Colley, cystic fibrosis physiotherapist at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “The children have loved the variety of different sports equipment and has made an in-patient stay much more interesting.”
