A TIMELINE banner showing the movement of people into Redditch has been given to Redditch Borough Council.
The banner, also available in leaflet form, has been created by Redditch One World Link and shows the migration of people to the town from the year 1800, when the population was about 1,000, to 2015 with the population heading past the 90,000 barrier.
It traces the migration of people off the land 200 years ago, the arrival of skilled metal workers for the needle industry to the arrival of the Irish following the Potato Famine, Polish war refugees, people from the Caribbean, the Indian subcontinent and East Africa to the development of the new town and beyond.
“The idea is that the leaflet can go into schools and to the general public and show the general development of the town through its residents,” said Jackie Morgan of Redditch One World Link.
