THE incredible Steve Kaos will once again be entertaining the crowds when the Pearl Izumi Tour Series comes spinning into Redditch next month.
And the clown, funnyman and cyclist extraordinaire says he can’t wait to return to the borough as the town centre bike race brings Olympic gold medallists and international stars to Redditch on Thursday, May 26.
“It was a great atmosphere last year and I’m really looking forward to this year’s event!” said Steve, fresh from entertaining the crowds before the start of the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix early this month.
This year Redditch hosts Round 2 of the women’s Matrix Fitness Grand Prix Series – won last year by multiple Team GB Olympic gold medallist and World champion Laura Trott, and Round 4 of the men’s Pearl Izumi Tour Series, won by Jon Mould in a sensational finish last year.
The event is already shaping up to be a huge – and free – community day for the town with Samba bands, dance troupes, a basketball demonstration and gymnastics display, music and entertainment as well as face painting and much more – plus of course Steve Kaos all lined up.
There will also be the ‘Tour Village’ on Church Green for race-goers to visit featuring a host of special interest groups.
The cycling fun will start off with a series of schools races before building towards a cycle challenge for local businesses with things starting to get serious as cycling clubs take to the road to do battle with ‘hot lap’ and relay races.
The one-hour women’s race is scheduled to start at 6pm followed by the men’s at 7.30pm with riders also available for autographs and ‘selfies’.
There are still place available on the business challenge – email [email protected] and in the Tour Village for any community group, business or organisation – contact on lyndsey.berry@bromsgroveand redditch.gov.uk .
