STRATFORD MP Nadhim Zahawi paid a visit with a difference to Alcester recently after agreeing to feature as a Familiar Face in a photography exhibition.

‘Familiar Faces in and around Alcester’ will portray the many faces of the market town, from teachers to dinner ladies and shopkeepers.

The exhibition is the brainchild of photographer Kelvin Cornwall and his wife Jane who moved to the town six years ago.

After finding the town to be a warm, welcoming and friendly community Kelvin felt inspired to create a collection of photographs which would celebrate some of the Familiar Faces there.

“We both thought we would like to celebrate the people of the town and surrounding areas and have decided to host The ‘Familiar Faces in and around Alcester’ Exhibition,” said Kelvin.

The exhibition, which will be based in Church House in Butter Street, will have no entrance fee but any donations received during the show will be donated to support the work of Alcester Dementia Cafe, which is led by Carole and Roger Zambonini.

The Cafe is a twice weekly drop-in centre dedicated to helping support people with dementia and memory loss and their friends, family and carers.

Launched just two years ago, the Cafe has grown from attracting just a dozen people to 150 twice a week.

Kelvin has now captured more than 30 photographs for the exhibition, including Mr Zahawi, all in formal portrait style, which will be framed and hung or displayed on a large computer screen.

The exhibition will run from September 23 to 25 and more information can be sought by emailing [email protected] .
