THE Ukip representatives for Redditch were out in force at the town’s Bandstand last Friday (April 15) to launch their new manifesto for the upcoming elections.

The party has pledged to build a town which offers a high quality of life, with a range of health services, new and appropriate housing and more leisure activities.

They believe the current Brexit debate may give them an edge in the local elections on May 5 and are urging anyone who wants to vote yes to leaving the EU the vote Ukip.

Councillor Paul Swans-borough said if they get one seat out of the six they are going for they will be happy.

“We want to make sure the people of Redditch see the benefit of any new housing development because currently there are proposals to build on land on between us and Bromsgrove, for example.

“These developments would be using Redditch resources but we would not see any of the money to accommodate the increased demand on services.

“Our plan in terms of the Alex is fairly similar to Labour in that we want to see A&E services remain there.

“We are hoping to provide a more effective opposition and the council needs some fresh ideas.”
