Best Buddies needed to support new mums in Redditch

Redditch Editorial 11th May, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

EARLY Help are in search of some support volunteers for new mums across the borough.

The new Best Buddies scheme is designed to put new mums needing advice about breast feeding in touch with other women who have had positive experiences.

Women with experience of breast feeding whether as grandparents, sisters, aunts or parents themselves are invited to train and share their knowledge with new mums hoping to breastfeed.

A training session for volunteers will be launched on May 20 with an introductory session at 9.30am at Holly Trees Centre, Riverside.

Alison Wakeman, family champion and volunteer co-ordinator, said: “The Best Buddies scheme is going to be fantastic for mums who are in need of breastfeeding support. The Peer Supporters with their training and experience will be able to deliver a much needed service. I am sure this will be a rewarding experience for everyone”.

The scheme itself will run on June 10, 17 and 24 and July 1, 8 and 15 from 10am to 12 noon at Holly Trees Centre.

Breastfeeding babies are welcome to attend the sessions.
