Drink driver given six years in jail for killing Redditch father

A MAN who crashed his car into a motorbike, killing a young Redditch man, whilst four times the drink-drive limit has been jailed for six years.

Craig Allen, no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Coventry Crown Court yesterday (Thursday) to causing the of death Robert Loach by dangerous driving with excess alcohol.

The 35-year-old was given six years in prison after his admission which related to the crash on the A3400 on April 25 which killed the 27-year-old, father-of-two.

A breath test showed Allen was more than four times over the drink-drive limit with 155 micrograms of alcohol in his system .




And the court heard he also tested positive for cocaine.

PC David Bull said: “This was a tragedy which could have been avoided.


“The simple fact is that driving when you have been drinking or taking drugs is not just illegal it puts you and other road users at risk.

“I hope the sentence given out sends a message to all road users who might be tempted to drive after they have had a drink.

“It’s just not worth it.”
