Residents consulted on plans to cut council tax support service

Redditch Editorial 29th Aug, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

RESIDENTS in Studley and Alcester are being invited to have their say on Stratford district’s local council tax reduction scheme.

This is the scheme funded by the district council to help those who are financially unable to pay their council tax.

Government changes in 2013 meant that local authorities had to introduce their own support schemes and now the Government has announced it intends to further reduce the cost of welfare support budgets which will result in further funding reductions for the district council.

As a result the council is to undergo an informal consultation exercise based on six key issues, including reducing the maximum level of support for working age applicants from 100 per cent to 80 per cent.

The consultation has started online and will run for eight weeks ending at 5pm on Wednesday, October 12.

All the information is available at www.stratford.gov.uk by following the front page link to the online survey.
