“IT is almost inevitable that we will have a major development around the village in the next 15 to 20 years” – that was the warning from Studley parish council chairman Paul Beaman as councillors gave their seal of approval to their new parish plan on Tuesday evening.
However the plan includes a determination to defend and maintain the Green Belt between Studley and Redditch as well as a pledge to work with Stratford district council and Warwickshire county council to reduce the amount of traffic on the A435 through the village.
Other highlights include repainting the ‘gateway’ signs to the village, promoting usage of the village nature reserve and highlighting the variety of walks in and around Studley.
There was also a pledge to continue lobbying for a village green on the vacant Co-op site and to introduce more traffic wardens to crackdown on illegal parking.
In addition the council will look at measures to reduce traffic speed around schools and priorities homes for families when considering planning applications.
They will also work with the Studley Business Forum to contact the owners of empty properties to improve their frontages and work to introduce more play equipment for children, particularly in the south of the village.
