AN inspiring apprentice from Redditch is flying high after winning a first-class trip to Africa, beating thousands of other applicants to the top.
Staff at Thomas Cook travel agency were tasked with making a two-minute video explaining why they should be the one to win the coveted prize – a luxury VIP trip to South Africa – and 20 year-old Amy Cluos, pipped around 6,000 other employees to the top spot.
Amy, who only joined Thomas Cook in July 2015, will be catching the company’s inaugural flight to Cape Town in December and she is delighted with her achievement:
“I was so happy when I found out that I’d won, I just burst into tears. It’s going to be an incredible experience, and the whole team will be able to benefit from my knowledge of the country when I get back.
“It’s not often a girl from Redditch wins an opportunity like this, so I am really, really excited.”
Staff at the Redditch branch of Thomas Cook in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre are also pleased for Amy and wish her well on her adventures.
