THREE REDDITCH shop directors have been fined more than £3,000 after an inspection revealed their store was infested with mice.

Radoslaw Jacek Froncz, 36, of Britannia Close and Grzegorz Antoni Jez, 34, of Congleton Close and Krzysztof Lisowski, 36, pleaded guilty at Redditch Magistrates Court on September 29 to failing to control pests following a visit to their Pol Market shop, on Beoley Road West, from the Food Hygiene Officer from Worcestershire Regulatory Services.

The officer noticed mouse droppings on the floor and set 30 sticky boards down to assess the extent of the issue which was found to be so bad they closed the store the next day when they found the droppings around the display fridge, delicatessen, storerooms.

The store was allowed to reopen in October when they were given the all clear and has been found to be meeting the necessary hygiene standards. Froncz and Jez were ordered to pay £436 each and Lisowski was ordered to pay £656. The court also fined Cell Pl Ltd £950 along with £531 court costs.

A WRS spokesperson said: “Residents can rest assured that we don’t take breaches of food safety lightly and will work with business owners to bring them up to a safe standard.”
