Be a Local Hero and back Redditch's Sandycroft Centre for revamp

A PLEA has gone to Redditch residents to get behind the town’s Sandycroft Centre, which is in the running for a DIY makeover from British Gas.

The call comes from local MP Karen Lumley who is anxious for the centre to benefit from the company’s Local Heroes initiative.

Local Heroes is an online service where you can find a British Gas-accredited local tradesman to carry out plumbing, electrics, drains and heating jobs in the home. The service provides online booking, clear and fair pricing, no call-out charges and is backed by a 12-month British Gas guarantee.

It is already available in Leeds, York, Brighton and Croydon, and this week, Local Heroes is launching in Birmingham and surrounding areas. To celebrate, British Gas is hosting an online competition, giving one of five shortlisted community organisations the chance to win a free DIY makeover, courtesy of a team of Local Heroes.

Sandycroft, located in West Avenue, Smallwood, offers a wide range of services to support the Redditch community, and is one of five organisations which could be visited by a team of Local Heroes later this month if it wins the prize.

As the winning organisation will be selected based on how many votes they receive in an online poll, Mrs Lumley is encouraging residents to cast their votes in support of Sandycroft.

“I am a big fan of the Sandycroft Centre as they do some remarkable work within our community. It would be great if they qualified for the makeover and I urge Redditch residents to get behind them,” said Mrs Lumley.

Time is tight though as the competition deadline is Monday, October 17, 2016, so cast your vote by visiting www.myLocalHeroes.com/vote.
