A NATURE-loving resident has created a calendar showcasing the best of Redditch to raise funds for the Garden Suite at the Alexendra Hospital.
Tony Winfield, from Winyates, made the calendar using photographs he took around Redditch and Arrow Valley and is putting all proceeds from sales towards making the Garden Suite Chemotherapy Unit at the Alex a more inviting and comfortable place for both patients and family members.
Tony said; “The NHS is on it’s knees at the moment and I feel our local hospital needs all the support it can get.
“The people who use the Chemo suite are only there for one reason – survival. To make it a bit warmer, more comfortable and more inviting, I believe would make such a difference to the patients and their family.
“My wife, Corine, is a cancer survivor, but the journey through cancer is a difficult one, and every bit of comfort in hard times helps.”
Tony, who is an engineer by trade, took the photographs featured in the calendar on his mobile phone during his commute to and from work.
“I work in a factory, spending all day indoors. This means that I really cherish and appreciate the time I have outside and I really love nature.
“I’m not really a photographer, but I think Arrow Valley really is the jewel in Redditch’s crown.”
The Lemon Press, run by a friend of Tony, have kindly printed 700 high quality calendars for free so that every penny from the £5 sale of each one can go towards the Redditch hospital and they are available to buy from Biddle’s convenience store in Webheath.
The 48 year-old added: “I just want to give something back, so I’d like to thank Lemon Press for their generosity, and Biddle’s for their support.”
