THE devoted wife and friends of a much-loved Redditch man have clubbed together to raise £800 in his memory for the hospital that cared for him.

Pat Carter, from Crabbs Cross, presented a cheque for £800 to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham this month, who diligently cared for her husband Ron throughout his long illness.

Ron, who lived in Redditch for 37 years, passed away in July and the money raised was donated by his many friends who attended his funeral at Emmanuel Church and Redditch Crematorium.

Pat said: “I am so proud to know Ron was loved by so many people who knew him. I cannot thank them enough for their support and generosity.

“I would also like to thank our friends at Emmanuel Church for their love and support and Thomas Brothers for their caring service.”

Pat cared for Ron for many years and hopes that the money raised will allow more people to access the care and support she and her husband received while under the hospital and the chaplaincy.
