REDDITCH MP Karen Lumley has expressed her sincere thanks to all the staff at Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital who dealt with her during her admission there last week for a planned but serious surgical procedure.
She was admitted to the Woodrow Drive hospital last Wednesday (October 12, 2016) and, following what appears to have been a successful operation, was allowed home two days later.
“Starting off with pre-op clinic, then the admissions unit and finally onto the main ward, the whole experience was very easy to follow and understand,” said Mrs Lumley.
“But most of all the staff everywhere were amazing. I can’t thank them enough for their kindness and care which was exemplary.”
The MP is now at home resting and trying to take it easy. The operation will mean she is unable to carry out her full parliamentary duties for at least six weeks, and will also not be able to undertake constituency visits and meetings until late November.
Mrs Lumley has also received many messages of support from constituents over the last few days.
“People have been very kind, and for that I would like to thank everyone for their generosity. All I need now is time to get better,” she said.
While Mrs Lumley will be unavailable to undertake appointments in person, much of her business will carry on as normal and her offices in Westminster and Redditch remain open. While at home the MP is able to respond to e-mails and other correspondence.
