Studley mourns much-loved lollipop lady

Redditch Editorial 21st Oct, 2016   0

TRIBUTES have poured in for popular Studley lollipop lady Christine Langford who died suddenly on Friday (October 14).
Family, friends and pupils at the local schools were left stunned by the tragic news and the railings by her crossing point on the A435 were soon covered in flowers as a mark of respect.
At an official level the parish council is to write to her family expressing their condolences and thanks for the years of service from the former dinner lady while a village collection, organised by Councillor Karen Sumner-Brown is already underway.
She said they were hoping to buy a village bench in her memory or a large planter for Studley in Bloom in tribute to the fearless crossing lady.
“Coun Brian Dixon added: “This lady has given a terrific amount of service to this village, she knew all the children by name – and the senior citizens too – and the entire village is indebted to her.”
