Redditch's local community health care trust rated as one of the UK's best

THE health trust that provides the majority of Worcestershire’s community nursing and therapy services, mental health services, and runs its community hospitals, has been acknowledged as one of the top performing in the country.
Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has been classed as requiring minimal national support, as part of a new league table published this week.
Each NHS Trust across the country has been placed in one of four categories based on the level of support they require from NHS Improvement (NHSI).
This is an independent NHS organisation which works with trusts to improve or maintain performance, including over the quality of care they provide, their financial performance, and the effectiveness of their leadership.
Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has been ranked in Group 1, reserved for those organisations deemed to be strong performers requiring minimal support from NHSI. The Trust is one of just 35 nationally to be placed in Group 1, who NHSI describe as having “maximum autonomy.”
Trusts are assessed against five themes: quality of care; finance and use of resources; operational performance; leadership and improvement capability; and strategic change.
Sarah Dugan, chief executive at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, said: “The trust has been performing well consistently for a number of years and this has been reflected in all our recent external inspections.
“The decision from NHSI to rank us as one of the Trusts which requires limited external support is further evidence that we are providing a really high standard of care and that we are well-led and financially strong.
“Ultimately, this is down to the hard work of our staff who are out in the community, in people’s homes, in community centres and on our wards and inpatient environments delivering compassionate and effective services which make a real difference to people’s lives.”
